Weekend fun you're a short ride from

Students, you know by now that your 49er ID Card allows you to ride light rail fare free, right? Light rail is a great way to get out there and get to know the city. Starting today, we're posting some get-to-know Charlotte activities that you can easily get to via LYNX and with a little help from Google Maps. Where will the light rail take you this weekend?

Friday: Best of Open Mic Night at McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square, 345 N College St. Free! 7:30p.m. A four minute walk from 7th Street station. Event details

Saturday: Final weekend to catch the Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks at Discovery Place Science Museum, 301 North Tryon St. $22; A four minute walk from 7th Street station. Website
