Public Art Walking Tour 

Explore uptown’s remarkable public art. Walking tour podcast and brochure available here. If you want to see them all in order for a start-to-finish 45 minute tour, begin at the Carillon Building, 227 West Trade Street, a 10 minute walk from the Stonewall Station. 

Cheap (and interesting)

Levine Museum of the New South, 200 East 7th Street, about ½ block North from 7th Street Station.

Current exhibits include:

  • K(NO)W Justice K(NO)W Peace, a community-created exhibit about police-involved shootings throughout the nation and in Charlotte. Features photography by Alvin C. Jacobs, Jr. See it before it closes September 29.
  • Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers, An award-winning, 8,000 square feet exhibit featuring artifacts, video clips, music, oral histories and immersive environments that illustrate the profound changes in the South since the Civil War. With student ID, admission is $8.00; on Sunday (hours 12:00 PM-5:00 PM), it’s only $4.00!

Abari Game Bar's First Fall Market, 12:00 -8:00 PM, Saturday, September 7

In the parking lot of Abari Game Bar, 1721 North Davidson Street; three minute walk from Parkwood Station.

Shop for crafts, jewelry, vintage clothing and goods, perfume, candles, vintage video games, art, 3D printed goodies and more. And of course, there’s a GAME BAR with arcade games, pinball machines and craft beers and specialty sodas. More.
