What’s Most Important to Know about Campus Parking

Parking permits are required to park anytime the University is open and are enforced on the first day of class. Permits are virtual. More about permit types and pricing information.

Permits are best purchased online. Parking privileges are assigned to your UNCC MyPark account and verified through license plate recognition (LPR). Equipment installed at decks and lots scans your plate as you enter and exit.

Don’t back into a parking space unless you have a front plate. Learn more about how you can purchase a front plate alternative.
Parking Tips

Parking demand is high during the first two weeks of the semester. Plan to arrive before 8:30 a.m. or park away from the center of campus. East Deck II, West and Union decks fill up first. North, South and CRI decks are farther out but almost always have available parking and have Niner Transit bus stops nearby. The Parking Availability mobile website shows campus deck parking availability in real time.

Peak traffic times are 7:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Follow @unccparking on Twitter. PaTS uses Twitter to inform of detours, delays and other relevant information. The same information is also fed directly to the PaTS homepage.
UNC Charlotte Center City Parking

Parking at Center City requires specific parking credentials, which are assigned to students registered for classes as determined by their schedule listed in Banner. No decal or tag is required.

Parking is currently located in the 422 Lot (southeast corner of N. Brevard Street and E. 9th Street).

Niner Transit Bus Service

Niner Transit is fare-free and provides non-stop service until 2 a.m., even on weekends. Ending times may vary due to inclement weather and holidays.

Stay up to date on changes with the PaTS website. Real-time GPS tracking for Niner Transit is available via smartphone or website with the UNCC NextRide app or nextride.uncc.edu.
You may not need to park on campus at all!

Your 49er Card serves as your ticket to unlimited, fare-free rides on CATS LYNX light rail, streetcar and all CATS bus routes. The CATS all-access transit pass is provided to you through your Miscellaneous Transportation Service Charge (MTSC).

Catch the CATS LYNX light rail in Pineville, Center City, on campus or at one of the many stops in between.

There are 11 Park & Ride stations along the Blue Line, with four on the extension. While parking is free at most Park & Ride stations, CATS charges a fee to exit the decks at the J.W. Clay/UNC Charlotte and University City Boulevard stations unless riders have a valid CATS daily, weekly or monthly pass. Riders without a CATS daily, weekly or monthly pass will be required to pay to exit the parking decks. As a student, you CATS All-Access Transit Pass does not include parking fees incurred at a CATS facility.
